Aftermath of Closed Note Event

Sentaku has put up a poll asking what you think of Erika's recent behavior. You can vote here. Please vote for the '素敵' option! Yahoo News has put up a poll asking users if their view on Erika has changed after the Closed Note event. The first option is 'My opinion has improved.' which has 4,435 votes at the moment. The second is 'My opinion has worsened.' which has 258,623 votes. The third is 'My opinion hasn't changed.' which has 39,648 votes, and the final option is 'I have just heard of Erika for the first time.' which has 14,088 votes. Vote here. The thing I don't understand is how worked up people are getting over this. 80% of people taking the poll now have changed their views on Erika because of this event? It doesn't make any sense, to me. J-CAST reports today that a lot of people think retirement is the best thing for Erika at the moment! This event has caused a lot of chaos recently, but retiring just because of the negativity surrounding her at the moment would be crazy. Erika's official site has been flooded with traffic recently, making it hard, and sometimes impossible to even access the site. On Toho's website about Closed Note, the comments had to be disabled because of all of the negative notes left. Some people say they now have no interest in watching the movie now, just because of Erika.

So seriously...what was the reason for this. I mean, surely something's either been going on recently in her personal or work life or something has happened related to Closed Note.

If there's anything resembling a legitimate reason for her behavior, I'll all for it, as I'm one of those who's disappointed with the sugary sweet, everything's fine flavor (or the very stereotypical character they've created as their geinojin persona) you see from 95% of the 18-25 year old women that you see on Japanese TV.

This is the first time Ive noticed you can actually comment here even though Ive been following this blog for a month now. Anyway, Ive been an Erika fan for nearly two years I think, and to be honest I don't really see the big deal.

Think about it. 99.00% of Japanese actresses/idols/singers are all cutesy and act like an angel made out of sugar and spice during interviews, but do people really think they're like that in real life? Here comes Erika, showing she can actually have problems and bad days just like everyone else and suddenly everyone's in an uproar. OMG, look out! She actually has emotions! Gasp! What will the public think?!

While I too am concerned for her welfare, as this recent problem of hers is probably a big one, we should all just hope and pray that she gets past it. Its probably a private matter and the press monkeys over at her talent agency will probably make up something to explain her behaviour. Kinda reminds me of Taiyou no Uta...

Anyway, the best we can hope for is that her agency sticks with her till this dies down. After all even negative publicity is still publicity.... and she's still hot. -_^

It's cool. I'm just glad there's another place where I can vent out my frustration over this issue aside from the usual forums.

The Japanese press/fans should just lay off her and leave her alone. She clearly has something troubling her and they're just going to add more problems. She's only human. No pun intended.

I found this quote from a 2ch forum which reflects the harsh reality in this media business:

”調子に乗れるやつが生き残る世界
普通の世界とは違うそれが芸能界”
(”懂看風駛悝的傢伙就能苟存的世界和普通世界是截然不同的,那就是藝能界”)

Maybe someone can translate that plz?
